Support Squad have recently collaborated with Interskills Training to develop a Cert IV specifically for Support Coordinators & Support Workers, wanting to upskill. This Cert IV is called Mental Health IV, but incorporates various units from a range of different certificates that are relevant to working in the NDIS sector, the role and our primary client base.

The course has been subsidised by the government, and Support Squad have paid each staff member’s gap payment. The contact ‘classroom’ time is once a month, in an evening, held in the programs area of our Warehouse in Beverley (with social distancing and masks to meet Covid safety requirements).  We needed to fill the class with a minimum of 14 people, but managed to get 30 students so were absolutely chuffed!

We are so excited about this fantastic opportunity to upskill, and would like to thank Anna and the team at Interskills for making this possible!  Anna worked closely with our management team over several months to develop this Certificate IV to suit our specific organisation’s needs & requirements.

Being that we,

  1. a) have a team of staff with varying experience, skills and qualifications, and

b) are predominantly support coordinators, not providing a hands role to our clients as such, we were in need of a bespoke certificate.  Anna and the Interskills team managed to capture our needs and develop a program that appealed to a large number of our staff, and also staff from our network of other providers.  It has been highly successful so far and we are so happy that we engaged them, as they have gone above and beyond as a training provider to bring our wishes to fruition.
